Dead Men Can't See

The Bible is full of word pictures which help us to understand spiritual truth. For instance, in Ephesians 2:1-10, man by nature is likened unto a dead man.

We have all seen dead men. They can not walk, talk, think, or make even the slightest movement; they are dead!

Imagine the futility of offering a dead man anything in exchange for even the most minute effort. He will not accept, because he can not accept. So it is in the kingdom of God.

A man must be born again or made spiritually alive BEFORE he could ever respond to the gospel. God must do a sovereign work first.

Modern religion asserts that man must make the first move, but He can’t; HE IS DEAD!

When Jesus comes to the tomb of Lazarus (John 11), He does not implore Lazarus to do something to become alive. He speaks life. Then and only then can men be of service.

The Holy Spirit must quicken (make alive) and save a sinner from his state of spiritual death. Then men can effectually call on him to repent and come to Christ.

He will not come to Christ unless He has first received salvation from God, because DEAD MEN CAN’T SEE!

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened (made spiritually alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins.
