The Elect's Clothing

To the Gentile church at Colossae, the Apostle Paul writes these words in chapter 3 and verse 12, "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness . . . "

Those who are chosen (the elect) by God are commanded to live a holy life in this world. It is the way that one "makes his calling and election sure" (2 Peter 1:10).

Paul told the believers in I Thessalonians 1:4-5, "Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance."

You see, the elect are not just chosen to go to heaven and live with God forever when they die, they are, "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ." (I Peter 1:2)

Are you one of the elect? You can know, if you love to put on the clothes that He has given to His people to wear!

II Peter 1:10-11 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
