The Faith Of God's Elect

In Titus 1:1, we read these words, "Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness."

The Bible teaches in Ephesians 1:4, "According as he hath chosen (same word as elect in Titus 1:1) us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love; having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will."

In Acts 13:48, this truth is asserted, "And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed."

You see, God has not only elected a people for His own glory and praise, He has ordained that they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is therefore called the faith of God’s elect.

Modern theology asserts that faith is a condition which the creature must meet in order to be saved, but the Bible declares that faith is the evidence that one has been chosen of God.

Modern theology says that man decides His eternal destiny, but the Bible maintains that a sovereign God has predestinated the eternal destiny of His elect.

The faith, then, that the elect have is the sweet assurance that Jesus died for their sins, and He will come again to receive them into eternal glory. Salvation is of the Lord.
