There Is A Chair In Heaven

In Hebrews 1:3 we read, "Who (speaking of Jesus) being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high."

When the Lord Jesus, all by Himself, did what no mere man could do, he sat down to indicate that the work given to Him of the Father was finished. In John 17:2, we see that finished work: "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do."

Now, what was that work which Jesus finished at the cross? The work of giving eternal life to every one given to Him by the Father.

You see, the Bible teaches that an innumerable host of the human race (Rev. 5:9) were given to the Son by the Father in a covenant of grace before the world ever began (Eph 1, Rom 8, 9). Their names were written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Rev 17:8), and they were sealed unto the day of redemption (Eph 4:30). None of this can fail, for Jesus said, when He died upon the cross, "It is finished."

Yes, dear reader, the work of redemption was finished at Calvary. It cannot be added unto or taken away from by any man.

If you have been enabled by the grace of God to see yourself as a miserable sinner and Jesus as the only Savior of sinners, rejoice! He finished the work of redemption for you; and He did it all by Himself!
