When Jesus Comes

In Matthew 24 and 25, we have described for us the second coming of Christ. The chief purpose of His coming is given in Matthew 24:31 where we read, "And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

When Jesus’ first coming was foretold in Matthew 1:21, it was said that, "He shall save His people from their sins."

When He comes the second time, He shall finally and fully save His elect from their sins. They were given to Him by the Father (John 6:37), redeemed by the Son (Romans 8:33), and sanctified (set apart) by the Holy Spirit (II Thes 2:13).

Their names were written in the Lamb’s Book of Life from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8, 20:15), they are His sheep (John 10), and they can not be separated from the eternal love of God (Romans 8:38-39).

Matthew 24:31 does not say that God might gather His elect—He shall gather His elect. He has purposed it from the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1), and what God hath purposed, that shall He do. Hallelujah! Amen!

Romans 8:33-34 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
