Who Shall Lay Anything To The Charge Of God's Elect?

This question is asked in Romans 8:33, "Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect?"

That is, who can bring any accusation against any one of those who were chosen by God before the world ever began (Ephesians 1:4-5), given to and atoned for by the Son (John 6:37, 10:11-15), and set apart by the Holy Spirit (I Peter 1:2)?

The obvious answer which is given is that there is no power in heaven or earth which could separate one of God’s elect from the eternal love of God with which they are loved. Why?

The verses immediately preceding this question tells us that everyone whom God foreknew, He predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son. Moreover, those thus predestinated are called, justified, and glorified by the glorious power of a sovereign God.

Paul says in verse 31, "If God be for us, who can be against us?"

And so, dear reader, if you are among those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you are eternally secure in the love and power of God, for He chose you and placed your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life before the world ever began (Revelation 17:8).
