Whose Sins Did Jesus Bear?

In 1 Peter 2:24 we read, "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

Peter said that He bore OUR sins. Who is the "our" in this verse? Well, he tells us who in chapter one and verse two. They are those who were, "Elect according to the foreknowledge (this word speaks of an intimate love) of God the Father."

Who is the YE in our verse? They are the same, and notice that the verb "were healed" is in the past tense.

When Jesus bore the sins of the elect on the tree, and when he took their stripes, they were healed from the effects of the fall. Their sins were washed away.

Modern, man-made theology asserts that a man’s sins are washed away when he believes, accepts Jesus, is baptized, or whatever (humanistic preachers can not agree among themselves what all man has to do in order to get himself saved), but the Bible plainly tells us that the sins of the elect were atoned for at the cross.

God then, in His good time, makes them new creatures by causing them to be born again. They are then able to see the kingdom (John 3), believe on Jesus, and walk in His truth.

They are called in I Peter 2:9, "A chosen (same word as elect) generation.

No, the elect were not healed when they believed, they were healed when Jesus bore their sins on the tree. Salvation is of the Lord!
